Hackathon Ideas

Use this forum to share and put your weight behind ideas you’d like to see tackled during SLA’s EduHackathon weekend, May 11-13th.

All of the student and course data contained within Slate will be available to developers through Slate’s programming interface. A copy of Slate will be available for developers to build against that is identical to SLA’s but populated with randomized data. Apps that integrate with Google services can also be easily plugged into SLA’s ecosystem.

While some developers might be interested in diving into Slate itself to add capabilities to it, given the format of the hackathon weekend the best ideas won’t require a deep working knowledge of Slate’s internals. Rather than new features for within Slate, think about things that could “plug in” to Slate for accounts and data sharing but do something more-or-less on their own.

Go crazy! Hackathon time is when it’s OK to have ridiculous ideas.

International classes/teachers/students and other SDP schools collaborating with SLA would each create a login and profile (admin approved).

    Interface Possibilities:

    -mircroblog
-click 'me gusta' for interesting updates, informs homepage feed

-asymmetrical system (like Twitter - you can follow someone's updates with them following your own)

-groups made up of a mix of native speakers and learners of two specific languages

    -chat
    -video and audio enabled …

  3. The login boxes on SLATE are tiny and tough to work with when loading on an iPhone.

I don't know how much you can mess with moodle, but trying to navigate to your courses on the iphone is quite difficult.
